What to Expect During Our Open House
Hands-On Demos Showcasing Our GFA Classes!
- Art Department Experience Tour our workshop and visit multiple sets designed and constructed by students. Register for the Make A Tombstone Workshop (space limited).
- Lighting Explore multiple lights from tiny to HUGE while learning dramatic and spooky lighting techniques.
- The (Spooky) World of Grip, Rigging, and Camera Get hands-on with our camera and dolly! See how Grips use various equipment to shape light and atmosphere on a set lit for a dark and stormy night (no rain! just fog and lighting effects!).
- Post-Production Video and Sound Watch as our instructor uses Avid Media Composer to transform a character into a horrifying monster
- Broadcast: A Costumes-Encouraged Mock-Esports Competition Test your skills as an on-air broadcaster, control room operator, and even a player in our Live Events, Streaming, and Esports set-up.

Workshop: Make A Tombstone! (optional)
An Art Department Experience - Limited Space Available!
Learn how to make a Halloween-inspired tombstone! Led by GFA set construction instructors, you'll learn how to turn a piece of foam into a spooky Halloween tombstone!
This craft will include painting, so wear clothes you're comfortable getting messy.
Please Note!
Part 1 5:15pm - Carving and Painting is approximately 45 minutes + 20-30 minutes of dry time.
Part 2 approx. 6:15pm - Details and Depth is optional and starts once paint is dry.
Please arrive by 5:00pm for the workshop.
