Professional Education

The GFA is a unique-in-the-nation, state-wide effort which provides you with the opportunity to:

• Learn from professionals in the Film, Television and Live Production industries
• Take classes at one of our industry hubs, including Trilith Studios, Assembly Studios and Skillshot Media
• Participate in on-set, hands-on experience and simulated “real world” projects, coupled with in-classroom course work
• Work with professional production equipment, broadcast and editing software
• Apply for an internship or apprenticeship on a major film production set, television studio, editing house or live production venue through GFA’s partnerships with professional productions and entertainment industry businesses
• Develop recognized film credits, expand your professional network, and receive one-on-one job counseling to include resume preparation, job research and job placement outreach from GFA
• Earn any of three Georgia Film Academy industry certifications, recognized by production companies, studios, networks, vendors, and other entertainment businesses which may employ Georgians:
  • Film & Television Production Certification
  • Film & Television Post-Production Certification
  • Live Production, Streaming & Esports Certification

Payment is due in full when you register for the class.

Yes, you can! However, you will need to register through a participating college or university to receive credit. If you are not currently a college student, but would like to be, get in touch with our enrollment navigators who can help you find the right fit for you!

GFA Enrollment Navigators

Generally students need a high school degree or equivalent credential to take GFA courses. Students must be 18 or older to participate in a GFA internship. For questions or to discuss special circumstances, please contact GFAProEd@usg.edu.

Financial aid is not available for Georgia Film Academy courses through Professional Education. If you require financial assistance, there are more than 30 Georgia colleges and universities that offer GFA courses for academic credit and are equipped with financial aid options. If you would like to explore the for-credit route, our enrollment navigators would be happy to assist you in finding a good fit.

GFA Enrollment Navigators

In the event you need to cancel your registration, you must submit a refund request in writing to GFAProEd@usg.edu no later than three (3) business days prior to the start of the semester. No refunds will be issued after this time. Notifying the instructor or failure to attend class does not constitute a formal withdrawal and will NOT result in a refund. 

Georgia Film Academy Professional Education reserves the right to cancel any class due to insufficient enrollment or for other administrative reasons. Should a situation develop which necessitates cancellation or rescheduling, we may offer you the option to transfer to another course section or will grant a full refund of tuition paid. We will make every effort to notify you of a cancellation by email or phone prior to the start date.  Please make sure you provide a current email and phone number at the time of registration so we may contact you.

If you would like to transfer your registration to a different course section or location prior to the first class meeting, please submit your request in writing to GFAProEd@usg.edu. All transfers are dependent upon seat availability in the requested section/location. You will be notified if your request is granted, and your tuition will be transferred accordingly.
